Victorino Addition, Oakland, California
This small 1930's ranch-style cottage had a lovely hillside site
overlooking the Bay but needed a modern kitchen and an additional
bathroom. Interior walls were removed to combine the living, dining,
and kitchen area into one large family-type room, much more suited
to the owners’ informal lifestyle. Floor to ceiling windows
were added to take advantage of the views and french doors lead
to a large new deck. An island was designed to serve both kitchen
and dining areas. Hidden skylights were opened up to provide light
for the newly exposed stairwell leading to the lower floor. The
remodeled master suite features a window seat with breathtaking
views on all three sides.
