The kitchen in this 1920's Spanish Mission home was relocated
to a large study area adjacent to the living room. A thick adobe-like
archway joins the new kitchen/dining area to the living room. Corner
shelves in the dining area match similar shelves in the living room
and a redwood burl breakfast counter gives the remodeled areas the
rustic ambience of the original home. Cherry shaker-style cabinets
blend nicely with the burl. “Heath” tile was used for
the kitchen counters which match the original “Heath”
tile in the fireplace’s hearth. A relocated leaded glass window
is centered over the stove and the kitchen sink features a deep
plaster sill. By using similar materials, details, and craftsmanship,
the new kitchen reflects the old world charm of the original home
with all the conveniences of a modern kitchen.
