Temple Bathroom, Berkeley, California
An outdated bathroom was expanded and replaced with a modern light-filled “spa.” The expansion included a bay window with views to San Francisco Bay for the whirlpool (blinds “inside” the windows provide privacy). A large shower with two types of showerheads features handcut tile and a frameless enclosure. A custom oak vanity and arched mirror alludes to the residence's original Mission style while bronze hardware and highly textured tile complete the illusion.
The room features low-voltage spotlights in the whirlpool area while the textured shower walls are illuminated with a recessed wall washer. Warm wall sconces serve the sink area. A leaded glass door provides privacy yet still allows light to spill out of the room, into the hallway
