Charych-Dunkle Kitchen Remodel, Albany, California
This kitchen project was part of a larger remodel which included
a second-story addition to a small “Mid-century Moderne”
home. Dark and cramped, the original kitchen was poorly laid out
and had no access to the large rear deck. By removing most of the
interior walls and relocating a bedroom upstairs, the kitchen was
expanded to the rear of the home where a new french door was added
leading to the deck. New windows took advantage of the 180°
view of the East Bay hills. Maple cabinets with brushed nickel pulls
and handles were designed with a streamlined look in sync with the
house’s style. After much research, formica counters were
selected and finished with aluminum edging, typical for a home of
this era.
