Cheung Kitchen Remodel, Piedmont, California
A small 1960's kitchen in a charming Arts & Crafts home needed
remodeling. The wall between the kitchen and the dining room was
replaced with an archway similar to the archway leading from the
dining area to the foyer. Once the wall was removed, the kitchen
became part of the dining area and visa versa. As a result, both
spaces feel much larger even though no additional square footage
was added. A high breakfast counter was added to separate the kitchen
from the dining room and its curved shape echos the archways. Milled
baseboards and trim all reflect the original woodwork in the house
and granite countertops, tile flooring, and new cabinets and windows
complete the ensemble.
