Victorino Kitchen, Oakland, California
This 1940's home had a great site with breathtaking views, but
a small kitchen and no deck to enjoy the scenery. The kitchen remodel
was part of a larger revamping of this home but soon became the
main focus of the project. Most of the interior walls were removed
on the main floor to combine the living, dining, and kitchen area
into one large family-type room, much more suited to the owners’
informal lifestyle. Floor to ceiling windows were added to take
advantage of the views and french doors led to a new deck. In the
kitchen, painted cabinets were replaced with warm cherry cabinets,
tile countertops were replaced with granite ones, and an island
was designed to serve both kitchen and dining areas.
